Today when I popped the hood of my car I noticed that there was an oil residue on my intake manifold, I clean that area this summer and it has been clean up til now and another thing that has also been kind of fun is a weird rotten egg smell kind of like a sulfur smell that pops up after the car is reved past around 3500rpm I have no idea what it is but the first time it happened was a couple of months back in sep. when I was tailgating Jaxx(he drives so slow its amazing U can think an old person is driving laugh.gif ) at first I just thought that it was from his exhuast but it kept on poping up even when he was not around and today it was pretty bad when I got out the car the smell stuck around for a good 5 min. even with the windows open, any idea on whats going on

rotting eggs? Hmmm, thats the smell of a stink bomb, I know some exhaust leaking can smell kind of funny, but not what I would describe as rotting eggs.

I know the clutch and the brakes are both capable of producing that smell.

Also, when automatics are floored the produce a smell like that.

U got me, i'd have to agree with them above me on possible problems, but if your car is in good running order it shouldn't produce those smells.

it would be unrelated to the oil on the intake manifold but a clogged cat can produce some bad smells. might want to check the pcv and vacuum lines for a cause for the oil on/around the intake mani.

I know the clutch and the brakes are both capable of producing that smell.

the brakes were changed around 3 weeks ago so its not them the clutch could be it I was talking to my dad and he said it was the A/C which I doubt

Chris is right. Its your cat. converters. I learned in auto tech. that they can produce that smell if they are clogged.
