Because you're doing your own work to your own fucking car, that's why you should do it. But hey, if daddy pays for your oil changes, and he's making sure your cars all taken care of so you can go out and do your little street races and whatever else it is you do, well then have fun at it. I'd rather buy my own oil and filter, and crawl under my car for the 10 fucking minutes it takes for me to drain and change that shit. It's not about laziness or a lack thereof, it's about a desire to know that you can maintain your own car and you don't have to rely on some dumbshit you don't even know doing work on your car which could quite possibly, if he/she fucks things up badly enough, completely ruin your engine. But hey, if you can afford to go for however long it takes to have your engine replaced with Johnny dipshit fucks up your oil change and gives you your car back dry, and 5 miles down the road your engine seizes up on you and you're fucked, well then have fun with it, because I know I can't, and at least I know when I do my own work that I've done that shit and that I don't have to deal with some mechanic who thinks I dont know shit so they can try to screw me over. When it happens, consider it a lesson learned in life.
